Kurt Ladstätter at NeveItalia: "Rent and Go has been able to establish itself as a reference in Italy for quality rental"

We met Kurt Ladstätter, the Rent and Go rental manager, a true highlight of our ski resorts and certainly protagonists of the strong growth that the phenomenon of rental among Italian skiers has had.

We can not begin the interview by talking about the topic of the moment. In this period the Coronavirus has induced a great fear in the population, there have been numerous cancellations also in the mountains especially highlighted by the world by the hoteliers. Rent and go has recently launched a very popular post that surely invites skiers to go skiing. What are your thoughts on the matter? I think that in the mountains and in general on the ski slopes there are less chances of catching the virus than in the city. Most of the contagious situations that have been reported by the media refer to the city environment. I have no news of Coronavirus cases in ski resorts and not even in the immediate vicinity. The mountain has always been synonymous with health and I think this is the case on this occasion too. [Instagram: B9GzIOxqRpY] Can you tell us how the Rent and Go project was born? "The creator was Erwin Stricker, former athlete and skier of the Blue Avalanche in the 1960s. In 1993 he devised quality rental because he had noticed that more and more people preferred to rent skis rather than buy them, not finding high-level services. The producers of the time considered the rental a sort of warehouse waste while Stricker in the environment he frequented in Switzerland had noticed that there was a need to rent quality products. Our company was born from this idea ”. Today in Rent And Go rentals do we not only find "rental" skis but the same products that are found in stores? Rent and go has in its DNA to be a platform that includes all the products on the market, from beginner skis to Race Carve and all major brands. Some companies have proposed us in the past to become a sort of "Single-brand rental" but we think this is not the right way. Anyone who enters a Rent And Go center must have the choice and maybe they can also find the right tool and then decide to buy it.We are very keen to be free, neutral and offer everything there is on the market. At this time of the year, do you already have the opportunity to offer your customers a preview of the 2020/2021 skis? It is correct, it is our prerogative after the ISPO in Munich, therefore already at the beginning of February, to try to offer in most of our centers have the opportunity to test next season's skis. Is there anything you have found more interesting about next season's skis? There are small revolutions this year in the skiing sector. From a technology point of view, the new mechanism developed by Head to contain vibrations seems interesting to me. Other manufacturers have focused more on novelties in the sidecuts, others on the structure. What is the organizational model of your chain? Are the shops owned by Rent & Go? The network was born as a Franchising system. For each participating store we provide a series of services and ask to adhere to quality standards and level of service. For each shop that becomes part of Rent And Go we guarantee exclusivity in its ski area, whether they are Affiliates or shops with a more extended contract. There are cases of locations where we have not found a local shop that meets our requirements and in those cases we have decided to directly open a rental point like Rent & Go, but these are exceptions. Each rental in most cases is therefore an entrepreneurial reality in its own right, but are there any constraints that you require to join the network? Absolutely yes, if the partner store wants to use our Rent & Go brand we care that the service it offers end user is high level. It is possible that some stores have a greater presence than some brands rather than others, but all the skis rented in our chain must always be prepared for each use and the service of the staff must always be of a high standard. A mechanism that we have been using for 20 years to maintain the high quality level is the "mystery check". We ask trusted people to rent equipment in our centers and send us a report on all aspects, level of advice, level of equipment, courtesy, etc. In this way we can always guarantee a high standard of service.
