27 days to the Arctic Circle, in the land of the nomadic Sami, between Russia, Finland and Norway. Franco Michieli (geographer, explorer and writer) and David Ferro (Mountain Guide) have gone through a total of 450 km as the crow'' air (estimated at 600 kilometers actually traveled) in February-March 2013, with temperatures between -40 and -5 degrees below zero.

An important test of reliability and resistance to cold temperatures for the Italian ski Kastelaar, solid wood products and with the'' use of advanced technologies. But it was also a big responsibility ,'' for the company in Vicenza, since the lives of two climbers from'' depended reliability of these wooden skis, which were assembled for the occasion'' telemark bindings and mountaineering.
All shipment was addressed by David Iron and Franco Michieli without the'' use of electronic media, no maps, no compass, no GPS, no phone or radio. A'' imprensa obtained with skis in solid Kastellaar and using only natural means of orientation, the sun, the stars, the geography of the land.
The skis used gave rise to a line of products called Kastelaar Fram, in memory of the famous ship Fram Nansen, and have the peculiarity of having applied the special tips, read, but very durable and elastic, made of wood, carbon , fiberglass and kevlar.'' An idea developed by Kastelaar between November and December 2012 after seeing the pictures of the ski'' s era of the famous explorer Nansen Ski tall spikes needed to in order to float'' impalpable arctic snow. The special thing about these tips is their form that deliberately recalls the style in use in Sami populations and their original choreography and transparency.
Franco Michieli Iron and David are with this company, the sixth and the seventh person in the world to have made a'' crossed the gender and the Ski Kastelaar the first of their kind to cross a line so long in arctic conditions so extreme.
