A team comprised of the Freeride World Tour athletes freeride Xavier de le Rue (FRA) and Sam Anthamatten (USA) and by some of the organizers has just turned up an exploratory journey of five days in China, looking for new horizons to expand the boundaries of freeride and further away.

After the recent annexation of Hakuba, Japan, for the first time this year in the FWT calendar, it could then be the turn of China. The trip was accomplished in Changbaichan area, Changbai mountains on the border between China and North Korea, in a region considered a natural park on the slopes of a volcano.
The team carried out a survey, skiing, taking photographs and taking the area from above with the help of a drone, and despite the difficulties ambientiali difficult conditions - heavy snow, freezing cold and strong wind - is able to assess the possible competition ground. The place it would present the morfolgia and the ideal characteristics to host a round of the Tour.
"It 'was an amazing experience. - He commented Samuel Anthamatten, skiers competing in the FWT currently 9th in the standings - No doubt it is a mountain and a culture of skiing totalemente different from ours, but it could turn into a challenge and It offers an attractive opportunity to bring the kind of experience we are used to in our Alps here in China. "
Given the growing interest shown by China in winter sports - the country will host the Winter Olympic Games in 2022 - the FWT aims to develop a Freeride ecosystem with schools, competitions and Junior Qualifier and maybe an international event. We'll see.
