The Freeride World Tour 2020 starts today, but this year there is already a lot of discussion for the Tour, as they announced this week that a cash prize will be awarded equal to male and female competitors. The move for equal pay marks the FWT's first step towards a commitment to gender equality in freeride skiing and snowboarding, which they hope will continue to inspire the next generation of freeride skiers to continue skiing and competing.

"This is a big step forward in uplifting women's freeride skiing and snowboarding and is simply the right and only thing for FWT to do," said FWT CEO Nicolas Hale-Woods on the FWT website. "Our female athletes have shown their commitment to sport with enormous advances put on display in recent years, becoming models of reference for many people around the world. "In addition, the FWT will organize skiing and riding sessions with professional athletes at the stops of the FWT in British Columbia, Andorra and Austria this season.
