Markus has always wanted to ski, since childhood. Italian champion of freeride and freeski, 25 years already & agrave; racked up an impressive number of victories and participations in events of an international character.

How does it feel to be one of the few Italians in the race to the Freeride World Tour? You load the & rsquo; start of the new season? How did you prepare? I'm pretty nervous now that it is almost all & rsquo; start of the season. I suffered a & rsquo; shoulder surgery in early summer and was able to resume skiing only a short while ago. Obviously I did so much rehabilitation and training in the gym right now, but I still miss the snow a p & oacute; l & rsquo; habit. I hope beginning to snow seriously also in our early to get back on top.
How & egrave; did your career in the Freeride? I started with freestyle skiing over a decade ago. About five years my manager has joined the Red Bull Linecatcher, and the & Igrave; & Egrave; all started. & Egrave; always been a race where attended by the best athletes in the world, my idols, and because until then I had never dedicated more & ugrave; from time to freeride and I did not feel able to & rsquo; beginning I did not want to go there because & egrave; I thought I'd look. Then & ograve; I am convinced and I do not know how I ended up in second place. & Egrave; It was definitely the result more & uacute; of my life and has descretato for me and l & rsquo; beginning of my career in freeride.
As we live a stage of the Tour? That preparation c & rsquo; & egrave; behind a beautiful line? C & rsquo; & egrave; a time window of a week in which you expect the best time to do the race. In the days before it was decided the race course, and organizers give us athletes a full day to watch the mountains from every aspect possible. The evening before the race we study the descent on the photos but not & egrave; You can do a field trial for not drawing the mountain. We talk with other athletes but no one talks much of his line, since that sometimes hidden, special, creative are rewarded at best by the jury. Then when the time comes for the race we just run it to show what we are capable. The tour can & oacute; definitely be very frustrating, but if all goes well you can & oacute; have the day of the season.
How did you spend last summer? Only ever skiing? Where have you been? L & rsquo; & egrave summer for me; began in May in the best way possible with a trip to Iceland to film for the new film I'm doing with the MSP Films. After that for & oacute; I had to stop because I was waiting for the right time to have surgery on the shoulder. From that time until now I have moved so much until about a month ago when I started to put the skis in Austria.
Colorado, Alaska, in the Cordillera Blanca For ugrave &;: & nbsp; you are young but have already & agrave; traveled the world skiing. What & rsquo; & egrave; the place that you & egrave; liked by most & ugrave; or where you lived there & rsquo; experience more & ugrave; particular? I would say that I shot enough in recent years. New Zealand, Chile, Canada and Alaska. All places incredibly beautiful. Alaska & egrave; especially the amount & aacute; and the quality of the snow hit. To & oacute; the place pi & uacute; especially where I skied & egrave; It was definitely the & rsquo; Iceland. We did not find good snow and it rained snow mixed rain for a whole week, with the sun came out just in time, but & egrave; l & rsquo; only time in life that I & egrave; I happened to make a surfed in the morning on a & rsquo; beautiful wave and then move on to do Heliski afternoon, not far from the sea! All combined to nature and beautiful landscapes of the country. I recommend that as a trip!
Freeride skiing involves risks that in & rsquo; environment you say & ldquo; not resettable & rdquo ;. Have you ever been in situations of real danger off piste skiing? How & egrave; resolved? I think I'm lucky to be able to say that I had never been in a very dangerous situation. Usually the risks are calculable. For example, where we choose lines in case of an avalanche, the snow has plenty of room to stop in the valley. So you can & ograve; significantly decrease the risk of being under the snow. We choose jumps where we know that we land on soft snow if something goes wrong. When we make movies we then almost always accompanied by mountain guides. I & egrave; however, I happened to live moments not so beautiful. For example, the & rsquo; last year in Alaska, while the mountain guides were doing a profile of the snow, you & egrave; loose an avalanche right under their feet. They managed to escape but their slopes are over a few hundred meters more & ugrave; gi & ugrave; & hellip;
We saw you last year in the ski-movie & ldquo; & rdquo Days of my youth; that & egrave; truly breathtaking. You have something new in the pipeline? As I said we are planning right now the next film again with this American production called MSP. I am going to book the first flight to Canada for January and from then on will be & agrave; Non-stop between film and games until April.
