Superheroes in fresh snow. Interview with Jeremie Heitz, ranked third in the Freeride World Tour 2014

But it comes from the FIS soon converted to powder, coming in 2010 in the world of freeride competitions and, in a crescendo of victories, winning the 3rd place in the overall standings of the Freeride World Tour 2014 has just ended. We did have a chat with the champion of freeride Jeremie Heitz, Switzerland, to understand what drove him to this discipline and what it is like to compete against the best in the world on descents difficult.

How does it feel to fall from the north face of the Bec des Rosses, in the final in Verbier? You difficult and impressive as it seems? As is was the first time I've done competing as a "forerunner" in the 2008 and 2009 editions of FWT Yes, definitely makes fear. They are more 600 meters of vertical wall with slopes ranging from 45 to 55 degrees, and you have to deal with jumps in speed. The first time is was a bit ' complicated because I chose the side with the higher slope and the snow was a little ... in any case, everything is it went well I will not forget ever get the feeling of relief to cross the finish line and look back after closing the line. How did you get into the world of freeride competitions? You started your career as an athlete FIS and then you decided to change. Why? What are the main differences between these two worlds? There are many ways to get to the Freeride World Tour Some athletes come from the world of FIS, the other Freestye, still others from climbing, and then there are others that seem to come from nowhere! Starting to ski alone. That of the alpine skiing events and the Freeride are completely different worlds. In the races you have to shoot at the gates, and it is the time that decides who is the best. In the world of freeride athletes can choose between making films of skis or race. In competitions there are only two doors, one on top of the mountain and a valley. Between these two points, you can do what you want to prove to be the best. However, when the film turns the only rules dictate the risks of the mountain. In your experience, what is more important to win a contest of the Freeride World Tour? What impresses most the jury? The line choice, style or breathtaking jumps? Believe that all of these criteria are important. We must be able to combine fluency and jumps, and do it with style. From a technical point of view, what is more important for off-piste skiing in different conditions of snow? What role have the materials? Freeride is technically very interesting because is rare skiing twice in the same place with the same snow, making everything much more challenging and complicated. The materials have changed a lot over the last decade. Skiing with modern skis Freeride makes you become a superhero and allows you to get down from a mountain to more 100 km / h jumping from cliff 15 meters. You a feeling unparalleled! The risk is integral part of the Freeride skiing? The most avalanches are dangerous and unpredictable, always. Even if you go to the mountains every day is impossible to be absolutely quiet when you start an off-piste descent. What is your favorite place to go skiing and why? The Swiss Alps are wonderful. Having traveled extensively around the world can be said to be very lucky to live here, with so so many possibilities at hand. All my best skiing in the Alps have been What are your plans for the future now that the Freeride World Tour and finished the season nears the end? You're already thinking about next year? season is not not over yet! The spring is the best time to draw lines in the fresh air. And then give time to pull out my glider to start the season flying ;-) Technical details: Date of birth: 28/09/1989 home mountain Salvan, Switzerland website: www.jeremieheitz.com Facebook Profile: Jérémie Heitz Sponsor: Scott, Mammut, Salomon, Les Marécottes, Home Watches, Fitness Vitamins Career Freeride: - 3rd FWT Overall Ranking 2014 - 3rd Courmayeur FWT 2014 - 2nd FWT Snowbird 2014 - 4th Overall FWT Ranking 2013 - 2nd FWT Revelstoke 2013 - 2nd Courmayeur FWT 2013 - 1st FWQ Alagna 2010-4 films with his brothers Falquet
