The Laghetti di Timau cross-country ski track has been devastated

The bad weather that hit the north-Italy in recent days has also manifested heavily in Carnia and in the other mountains of Friuli Venezia-Giulia. Landslides, landslides, overflows, open houses, folded pylons and thousands of hectares of forest felled have made roads unreachable leaving isolated countries for a few days. Unfortunately, the bad weather did not spare even the Centro Fund Laghetti di Timau which reported significant damage.

The results of the first survey of the volunteers of the Aldo Moro Paluzza (a company that for many years managed the Friulian plant n.d.r.) have highlighted a scenario that is nothing short of catastrophic. "The territory is unrecognizable: 70-80% of the banks on the Cjaule river (Fume But) near the runway have collapsed, the riverbed has taken other directions and everything else has been destroyed or submerged by gravel and mud.The neighboring woods have been destroyed by the force of the wind leaving only a few "sentinels" scattered here and there.A territory devastated and unrecognizable. The fixed structures, in the starting area, are fortunately saved. We could say that part of the devastation is due to insufficient maintenance but we must also say that the extraordinary force of the events was largely the cause of the destruction, just think that also the pylons of the power line passing through the district, they have been literally sliced. " These are the first words of Andrea Di Centa President of the Aldo Moro published on the company's facebook page. Di Centa himself concluded the post by making an appeal to the Friuli Venezia-Giulia Region asking for help from the institutions to restore the Upper Carnia base center as soon as possible. "Now we ask, after due compliance with the priority emergencies, to take a damage account and think about restoring the site as much as possible, even the sporting activities and the previous investments made on site, ask for help. which we live is also made of sporting, cultural and touristic supports. We hope that our voice will be heard as well.We will do our best to make ourselves available as far as we can, believing in these things and we ask for help in safeguarding our territory and our life in the mountains. " After the Carnia Arena in Forni Avoltri and the ski resort of Sappada, another important winter sports resort in Friuli-Venezia Giulia has been brought to its knees.
