Saturday 22 September 2018 will be a historic day for the Valtellina. In fact, Frasnino will officially inaugurate the Ponte nel Cielo, the highest Tibetan bridge in Europe.

The imposing structure built by the Püstarèsc Consortium, consists of a paving formed by 700 larch wood boards of the Val Tartano that connects the two slopes of the Val Tartano (Campo Tartano at an altitude of 1034 meters and the Maggengo Frasnino, at 1038 m) with a 234 meter long pedestrian path and suspended over 140 meters in height.
Beyond the impressive numbers that make the bridge in the sky the highest Tibetan bridge in Europe, the whole route is also passable by children and offers visitors a unique panoramic view: from the mountains to the green valley of Tartano, from the dam of Colombera to the Maggengo Frasnino up to the valley bottom of the Valtellina that culminates in Lake Como.
In addition to the bridge, in the open space at Frasnino, a birdwatching site will also be created: in addition to eagles and owls, it will also be possible to spot the capercaillie, symbol of the Valtellinesi Orobie Regional Park.
The program of the inauguration day includes the meeting at 10.30 in via Costa at the "Porta del Ponte", then we will proceed with the descent to the bridge and at 11.30 the ribbon will be cut. The first crossing of the bridge is scheduled at 12.00.
In the following days it will be possible to visit and cross the Ponte del Cielo from 09.30 to 16.30 after purchasing the ticket at the ticket office.
