Ski-test 2022/23: the best GS racecarver!

As every year we want to launch our Buyer's Guide with the list of the best proposals, for our Test Team, for the 2022/23 season in the GS racecarver field!

He is always in command, timeless: the Rossignol Hero Master! There are few skis that have marked the market and the evolution of materials in recent years like the Rossignol Hero Master: coveted by many, inspiration for many and absolute leader of every material test since it was unveiled. Last season was the real debut of the new model, with new had to sidecuts and different structure. This year we tested again the Master M17 model with a 173cm size and 17m radius, the most fun size in the free field and which offers many skiers the opportunity to have a softened GS ski, without size constraints. The declared goal of the French company was to make an iconic product even more skiable and enjoyable and, once again, the Rossignol Hero Master turned out to be the best GS ski among all those tested, winning a Gold Medal for best ski GS racecarver for next year. Next to the Rossignol Hero Master M17 we find five models that our testers have reported to us for their peculiarities. The new Salomon S / Race GS 12 impressed our testers for its stability and ease of handling medium curves and it is precisely for this last aspect that it is awarded as a "Tester's Choice" ski in the GS Racecarver category. structured, which immediately appears solid under the foot, stable and with an excellent feeling. Especially like in the central phase of the curve, it has great stability and is solid but soft. It is a very direct ski in the corner entry, if you stay on it and reverse it decisively, but it does not forgive the setting error. The more manageable GS racecarver is instead the Völkl Racetiger GS which is confirmed as an excellent racecarver, well centered and very balanced. It is a simple ski in the management of the medium arch: it starts the curve easily, without effort and without too much impulse, it is easy to put it cutting, it is a racecarver for everyone, it manages to propose itself from a level 5 thanks to the '' extremely easy to enter the curve. The Nordica Dobermann GSM RB Piston, on the other hand, stands out as the best proposal for the 2022/23 season in terms of conduction. You immediately get a good feeling with this ski: it is stable, easy to turn, intuitive, fun and structured. The Dobermann GSM is very quick when entering corners, while in the central part it becomes quieter: the structure works very well with the Piston plate and makes the management of the curve very simple. There are never dead spots and it stimulates dynamic skiing but not as aggressive as one might fear. One of the models that surprised the most in the tests is the HEAD Worldcup e-GS Rebels Pro and was rewarded for its comfort and handling of tight corners. It is a product with a true GS structure, with great stability at high speeds, fun and never too demanding. The ski has dimensions and sidecuts we are not used to, with a radius greater than 21 meters under the foot in the 177cm length: you start a lot on the eggs at the first turns but you discover a ski with excellent arrows in your bow! It is elected by our testers as "Chosen by Testers" and best product in the GS racecarver segment for handling in general and the ability to manage (for the category) tight corners. The ski is positioned at the top also in terms of stability and wide curves, the daily bread of the product. Finally we find the Dynastar Speed Course Master GS Konect as an award-winning ski thanks to cornering stability. It is the entry step to the “Speed Course Master” world at Dynastar, identical to its older brother with R22 plate, the Konect stands out for its lighter plate. This last aspect makes it preferable, sometimes, to the older brother because it always makes you feel attached to the ground and deforms continuously, it is characterized by excellent performance in medium and running corners.
