What distinguishes a good boot-fitter from others is the ability to achieve a correct "diagnosis" and the ability to make an intervention on plastics with the most appropriate manner.
The interventions are mainly two:
MILLING. By means of special grinding wheels steel of spherical shapes, cylindrical, or of particular shapes it is possible to remove part of the plastic on the inner side of the hull, gaining a few millimeters thick.
CROWNING HOT. It is an intervention that takes more time, but with which you can gain more space. It is substantially of "bulging" the hull at some points by means of the heating of the plastic and the subsequent application of a pressure on the inner side at the points where you want to make the camber. On the outside of the boot should be confined with special metal rings the intervention application area. Once you obtained the desired shape necessary to cool the boot at room temperature or in a refrigerator for several hours to counteract the natural tendency of the plastic to return to the position where it took place the solidification from the molten material. In some cases it is necessary to repeat the operation several times to achieve the desired action.
