An article that appeared yesterday in Il Fatto Quotidiano, always careful to follow the evolution of the works towards the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics, examines in detail the complete list of works to be carried out in view of the Olympic appointment.

The list was published in the Bulletin of the Veneto Region following the communication of the lists made by the CEO of the company "Infrastructure Milano-Cortina 2020-2026 spa", Luigi Valerio Sant'Andrea, to the administrations concerned, namely the Lombardy Regions and Veneto, in addition to the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano.
From the long list it emerges that the costs for carrying out the interventions reach, according to current estimates, 2 billion and 165 million euros divided into two expenditure items: the essential and non-postponable works that must be carried out to allow the tenders to be held (284 million euros) and essential works, i.e. infrastructural interventions to ensure better accessibility to tenders (1 billion and 878 million).
The first list, which relates to the Dolomite area and Lombardy, includes works for 168.8 million euros, including those absolutely to be built totaling 108 million euros. The works that cannot be deferred are: new snow-making system for the Biathlon stadium in Anterselva (6.5 million); redevelopment of the Ski Jumping Stadium in Predazzo (23.5 million); Predazzo Olympic Village at the Guardia di Finanza (11 million); Olympic Village of Cortina d'Ampezzo (47.8 million). while in Lombardy, works for 6.3 million euros in Bormio for the adaptation of the tracks are essential for carrying out the tenders, and 37.7 million in Livigno where the Freestyle and Snowboard races are scheduled.
The second annex, referring mainly to Cortina, Trentino and Milan, presents total expenses of 318.2 million euros, of which 178 million for essential interventions that cannot be deferred and 140 million for essential works. In this chapter the biggest expenses are in Cortina: 10 million for the renovation of the 1956 ski jump and for the creation of the Medal Plaza; 85 million for the new bobsleigh, luge and skeleton run; 6 million for the adaptation of the ice stadium; 1.3 million for interventions on the Olimpia delle Tofane track. In Baselga di Pinè (Trento) 50 million are allocated to the redevelopment of the speed skating facility, while in Tesero 11.5 million will be needed for the ski stadium basically.
In Verona, where the closing ceremonies of the Olympics and Paralympics will be held, one million euros will be used to upgrade accessibility to the Arena. In Milan, 13.3 million will be allocated to redevelopment, with the partnership formula of the former Palasharp, which will thus become a multifunctional structure also for winter sports on ice.
The third list contains 34 works considered essential, but which will hardly find their completion. These are infrastructures that will be used for road and rail connections for a total of 1 billion and 678 million euros. The two most important items are the variants of Longarone and Cortina, in the province of Belluno, along the state road 51. These are works that have been awaited for decades. The Olympics bring funding for 270 million euros to Longarone and 298.7 million euros to Cortina.
Adding the three lists, it emerges that the State will bear 42.5% of the funding for essential-non-deferrable interventions (122 million) while 53% (151 million) will be borne by the Regions, Provinces and Municipalities. The situation is quite different for the essential interventions (for which it will be possible to proceed, however, to starlcio) where nearly two billion (1 billion and 918 million euros) would fall on the shoulders of the state, equal to 96% of the total estimate.
