Italy penultimate to parade, before the host of China: the 24th edition can start, with many blue dreams.

It begins, even if several disciplines have already given way to the great five-circle adventure.
The 24th edition of the Olympic Winter Games was inaugurated by the opening ceremony, in the same Beijing stadium which, in 2008, hosted the summer festival; the Chinese capital is the first city, in the history of the Games, to do an encore (just 14 years later) with the edition of snow and ice.
A splendid Michela Moioli paraded with the tricolor flag, chosen to replace her friend and countryman Sofia Goggia for such an important role, she is the reigning Olympic champion who will defend the title in the snowboard cross competition on 9 February. A delegation (naturally reduced to the ceremony) of 118 athletes, 49 women 69 men, even if the luge rider Kevin Fischnaller, who tested positive at Covid in the past few hours and out of the men's single challenge scheduled for tomorrow, must be removed from this list.
Italy was the penultimate nation to parade, according to the order of the Chinese alphabet, right before the hosts. Many are the standard-bearers of top teams from alpine skiing, such as Norway who chose Kjetil Jansrud (at the fifth Olympics "recovered" in extremis after the serious knee injury in December) together with cross-country skier Maiken Caspersen Falla, Wendy Holdener's Switzerland, Tessa Worley's France together with another legend like Kevin Rolland, while Dave Ryding led Great Britain, Ilka Stuhec Slovenia and Alice Robinson New Zealand, with Germany who proposed two champions such as Claudia Pechstein and Francesco Friedrich and the '' Austria the duo formed by Julia Dujmovits and Benjamin Maier.
At 14.51 Italian time (21.51 local time) the Games were officially declared open, with the brazier lit twenty minutes later with the relay of the many Chinese champions of the winter disciplines.
And if on February 20, with the closing ceremony, the baton passes to Milan-Cortina 2026, the hunt for the medals of this Olympic edition, which is so special for a thousand reasons, will start tomorrow.
