The Primo Tricolore flies with Razzoli to Beijing: "I've always believed in it, but I couldn't be sure I was there"

The Municipality of Reggio Emilia, where our flag was born in 1797, has given the "Razzo" a great recognition. The words of the Olympic champion, who can dream of a medal 12 years after Vancouver.

It will be one of the great hopes of the men's sector for alpine skiing at the next Olympic Games in Beijing and has been the sporting idol of an entire territory, that of Reggio, for 15 years. Giuliano Razzoli received a great welcome, returning from the block of the January classics that saw him as a great protagonist, with the historic return to the podium in Wengen and then two first fairytale heats in Kitzbuehel and Schladming, to then go out on the most beautiful in the two Austrian slaloms that represented the last World Cup events before the five-circle event. On Sunday a surprise party for the "Razzo", at the Bismantova Theater in Castelnovo né Monti (the "capital" of the Reggio Apennines, about twenty km from its Villa Minozzo), on Monday instead the ceremony for the delivery of the First Tricolor, during the meeting of the municipal council of Reggio Emilia. Yes, the 2010 Vancouver gold will fly to China (after the last training sessions in Val di Susa, from 4 to 6 February) with the tricolor in the suitcase, after a motion was unanimously voted to award the Olympic champion the Italian flag born 225 years ago in the city now led by the mayor Luca Vecchi. "It is a great honor, the Primo Tricolore will come with me to Beijing - Giuliano told his colleagues at" Reggionline Quotidiano "- I wasn't sure I would get to this point, but sport has taught me that we must always believe in it". And the medal 12 years after that magical day in Canada is now no longer a dream but a concrete goal.
