Norway has already chosen: here are the 12 athletes (8 men and 4 women) for the assault on the medals at the Games

In Beijing 2022, Kilde and Mowinckel (twice medalist 4 years ago) will lead their respective Scandinavian teams, but of course pay attention to Kristoffersen, Foss-Solevaag and Braathen. Veteran Nestvold-Haugen out, while captain Jansrud lost the chance of the fifth Olympics due to injury. Italy? The situation of the men's team has remained the same, with only 7 bibs available ...

It is the first of the top alpine skiing nations to announce its Olympic selection. A few hours after the FIS made official the participation fees for the Beijing Games (with Italy always in the same, very difficult situation of only 7 bibs available for the men's sector), Norway made official the list of players called up for the Olympic Games starting on February 4th. Without Kjetil Jansrud, who lost the chance to participate in his fifth edition in five circles (and almost certainly would have been named flag bearer) with the Beaver Creek injury, but also without another veteran of the Scandinavian team, in this case for technical choice given that so far it has been a very difficult season for Leif Kristian Nestvold-Haugen. There are 12 names, well below the quota available to the Norwegian federation, which has always focused on the quality and medal chances of its athletes: eight men, led by Aleksander Aamodt Kilde who has already won five times this season and he will clearly be among the downhill and super-g favorites, but he will be on the hunt for his first Olympic medal. Henrik Kristoffersen has already won two, between bronze in slalom in Sochi 2014 and silver in giant 4 years ago in PyeongChang, who will have a golden mission by focusing on the two technical races. At his side Lucas Braathen, fresh from the return to success in the Wengen slalom, and the other class 2000 Atle Lie McGrath, but in slalom we will certainly see Sebastian Foss-Solevaag, current leader of the CdM of specialties and reigning world champion, with Timon Haugan who could also sign the surprise. If Rasmus Windingstad completes the formation for the giant well and can be very useful in the team event, it will be Adrian Smiseth Sejersted to form the couple with Kilde for the quick tests. Four women called up, recalling the injuries of Kristin Lysdahl and Marte Monsen, the failure to recover in time for the Games of Kajsa Vickhoff Lie and the surprise withdrawal of Kristina Riis-Johannessen (who contributed to world gold in the team event in Cortina 2021): Ragnhild Mowinckel is the lighthouse of the team, a champion back on the podium after a thousand injuries in the recent super-g of Val d''Isère, and already twice on the Olympic podium at PyeongChang 2018 with the silver in giant behind Shiffrin and the same downhill placement, a breath away from Goggia. But pay attention to Mina Fuerst Holtmann, who has found an excellent condition between giant and slalom, to Thea Louise Stjernesund (also ideal for the team event) and Maria Therese Tviberg, an authentic loose cannon always in technical disciplines.
