The Italian short track, aside from the controversy that arose over Arianna Fontana's statements addressed to the federation, today has written history reaching four medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games. It had never happened, it became reality with the silver of Fontana herself in the 1500s, a result that means the eleventh medal for the most successful Italian champion at the level of winter Olympic disciplines, and the bronze of the men's relay formed by the veteran Yuri Confortola, Andrea Cassinelli, Tommaso Dotti and that little phenomenon that responds to the name of Pietro Sighel.
And just today, the FISG also celebrated a prestigious recognition such as the assignment of the role of standard-bearer for the closing ceremony to one of its stars, namely Francesca Lollobrigida.
"I wanted to redeem the 1000, but I did not think such a match could be born - the first words of Fontana, at the third medal in these Games - It is a perfect closure for a great Olympics".
And at the microphone of Stefano Rizzato, at Rai Sport, Pietro Sighel also intervened, able to close the relay in a great way by burning the Russians by just 9 thousandths. “We are very proud of what we have done, believe me this is not a casual result - explains the son of art - We worked hard on the relay, we managed to realize our potential. This medal gratifies the work of many years, I am also referring to the other young people who have been able to suffer in the most difficult years ".
