Michela Moioli, after the disappointment of the semifinal exit in the race where she was defending the title, took home her second Olympic medal. “The individual went as we know and today I really wanted to make a medal with Omar. It was the first time of this race at the Olympics and in the end it is one more chance. I was very tense, but I had Omar who, in addition to starting in front, dragged me with his calm and positivity, and I just tried to do a good race. In the final I gave everything but unfortunately Jacobellis was faster.
That's okay, it's still a team silver, a good test for me too because after the other day I was down. These two days I did physiotherapy on my ankles, for the after-effects of the fall, then Omar made the bronze and I got very excited. I went to the awards ceremony, the first I saw for a friend of mine, and he charged me. I am really happy, a big thank you to Omar, to the whole team for the work done and for our teammates who were here to cheer us on. A pity that Caterina Carpano and Lorenzo Sommariva did not get on the podium, because they really deserved it ”.
