Beijing 2022, Nadia Delago: "This is the first time I participate in the Olympics, a dream ..."

The sprinter Nadia Delago tells Neveitalia before leaving for the Beijing 2022 Olympics where we will see her competing in downhill.

Nadia Delago, Nicol's younger sister, is one of the spearheads of the Italian speed team. This year is his brightest season. She came close to the podium twice, first in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee where she finished fourth, then in the last downhill run in Garmisch -Partenkirchen where she finished fifth just 7 cents from third place. Not only. The Gardena has collected four other top ten over the course of the season and is now in sixth place in the general downhill classification on a par with the German Kira Weidle. Now Nadia is ready to leave for the Olympic Games, a dream she will live with her sister Nicol. This season you are achieving excellent results. What has changed in you compared to past years? Every season I try to take a step forward. I definitely changed a little athletically, I loaded a little more with weights and I took care of the details. On the skis I tried to improve myself technically. The blue speed team is very strong. There are many elements of the highest level. Is there any teammate you can draw inspiration from? Yes, we are a very strong team. I am very lucky to be able to train with athletes like Sofia Goggia, Marta Bassino, Elena Curtoni and Federica Brignone. We throw each other. The lines and tactics I try to copy from them. The Beijing 2022 Olympics are approaching. For you this is your first participation in an Olympics. What feeling does it give you to live this experience? Going to the Olympics is the dream I had for this season. I am very excited, I can't wait to leave. I will try to enjoy it 100%. Going to a new place is sure to be a great experience. Along with you, your sister Nicol has also been summoned. What kind of relationship do you have? We are very happy to be able to go to the Olympics together because it is not obvious. We always help each other. If I start a race first, I give her information via radio on the track, the speed and vice versa if she goes down before me. It is a great fortune to compete together because we can always help each other. We also get along very well on skiing, we feel good. Do you feel like opponents on the track? No, we don't feel like opponents. Each focuses on their own race, but we feel sorry for each other if one of us achieves a good result and the other doesn't. When Nicol gets out, I'm much more anxious than when I am at the starting gate. It gives me a little agitation ... In the Olympics, besides downhill, do you think we will see you competing in any other discipline? I don't think so, but you never know. Also last year at the World Championships I only had to do the downhill and then instead I also did the combined, where unfortunately I went out, and I was the reserve for the Team Event. It has to be seen, but at the moment there is only the descent planned. What do you expect from the Beijing Olympics? I don't have many expectations, I will try to give my best, have fun and enjoy the whole atmosphere.
