The International Olympic Committee has published the first version of the manual with the anti-COVID rules that must be followed during the Beijing Games which are expected to start on February 4, in three and a half months.

Many questions in recent months on the rules for dealing with COVID during the appointment of the Winter Olympics, and many of these are answered in the first version of the protocols published by the IOC.
All those (athletes, technicians, journalists) who received the second dose of the vaccine before 14 days of departure for Beijing will avoid a 21-day quarantine upon landing in China which, in the event, should be carried out in Covid hotels for which they are rules have been defined that should ensure better comfort than occurred at the recent Tokyo Summer Games. It will not be possible to leave the structure but three meals a day, free wifi and access for the team of those affected will be distributed. Staff in quarantined hotels will speak English and psychological support will be available.
All participants will live in a very rigid bubble during the Games; it is a space that includes only the Olympic village, the competition and training facilities and the award ceremonies. Only the means of transport approved by the IOC may be used, which should also define some safe places outside the competitions. It will be forbidden to leave the "bubble" and have contact with people outside it. In case of violation of the guidelines, the Beijing organizers threaten sanctions including fines and withdrawal of accreditation
All athletes will have to undergo a molecular swab within 72 hours of their departure for Beijing where they will be tested again upon arrival. Once on site the swabs will be daily and in the case of positivity the athlete will be transported to the hospital if he has symptoms or will be quarantined.
The severely limited freedoms of movement, which will also apply to journalists, are leading all international media, including Italian ones, to downsize their plans and reduce the presence of reporters on the spot.
A second version of the protocols, and expected to be the final one, will be published in December.
