After the Bronze medal at the World Championships in Dordrecht and the other day's Silver in the Mixed Relay, Pietro Sighel wins the first Olympic final of his career at 22 but falls while fighting for the Bronze.

In the quarter-finals Pietro Sighel puts himself in the wake of the Chinese Wu Dajing since the start and puts the Hungarian Shaolin Sandor Liu in difficulty by trimming his attack attempt in the last corner, Second place for the blue who passes in semifinal.
In the first semifinal, the twenty-two year old from Baselga di Pinè starts from the fourth rank and finds the gap two laps from the end to overcome the Kazakh Nikisha and the Russian Sitnikov who threatens him in the final split: the blue wins for a thousandth and , with the winner, the Russian Ivliev qualifies for the final where he will also find Shaoang Liu, the Kazakh Azhgaliyev and the Canadian Dubois advanced by decision of the jury.
The final. Sighel finds himself starting outside the blue is fifth and battles with Azhgaliyev but, while he is attacking, at the penultimate corner he falls and closes in fifth position. Gold for the Hungarian Liu Shaoang in front from start to finish, Silver for Ivliev and Bronze, after the Silver in the 1000 meters, for the Canadian Dubois.
In the women's relay, Arianna Fontana, Martina and Arianna Valcepina and Arianna Sighel win the Final B while in the final for the medals the Gold goes to the Netherlands ahead of South Korea and China.
