The federal president spoke a few hours after the conclusion of the Olympic Games: "Pellegrino aside, the situation of the cross-country skiing is worrying. I was expecting medals from the men of alpine skiing, too bad for biathlon while we have quality young people in freestyle disciplines".

Still hoping in the dispute of the alpine skiing team event on Sunday, the FISI has already drawn up an assessment, through the president Flavio Roda, of an Olympic review with ups and downs (while the two Azzurri titles came from the ice at FISG ), and especially without gold medals.
At Casa Italia, number 1 in via Piranesi did not hide from the analysis of the situation for the various disciplines, also thinking in terms of Milan-Cortina 2026: "First of all I would like to thank all the athletes, regardless of the results, to the technicians, to federal personnel, because working here was really complicated - Roda's words - I immediately said that we could have reached the double figure, but the result of the Olympics is what we have obtained and we must take note of it (with 9 medals).
The men's sector of alpine skiing is the most penalized because it is already the second Olympics that fails to bring medals. I expected some more results to come, because we had the medal athletes: Paris, Innerhofer, De Aliprandini, the slalom. So it went, and sorry not to have brought results. We could also expect something more from biathlon: it must be said that they competed in conditions that are really at the limit, we know that Dorothea suffers from this kind of situation, and in any case she won a good medal. Overall, however, I expected something more.
We must also remember the problems that sledding has had. The medal of Dominik Fischnaller arrived, but also his positivity at Covid, which took away the best athlete for the team competition ”.
And then again on the Nordic disciplines sector, in difficulty for some time now: “The fund has confirmed the great champion who is Pellegrino, but there is little behind him. I have a very clear idea: there is work on young people, who are also good, but we have to see if they will reach a high level. There is some concern, Pellegrino has a great engine, but the others struggle.
Snowboarding did its part, but gold was there too. Moioli was a bit penalized by the track, however the results arrived.
There are also important signals from freeskiing, skicross and other snowboard formats: these are young guys who are good pawns in the perspective of Milan-Cortina. As for jumping and combo, the hope for the future is the girls. In fact, we asked to include the women's combined in the program of the next Games, precisely because there are talents who can do well. After the Pittin era, the situation in general is quite complicated, and there are very few athletes ”.
On Milan-Cortina, Roda adds: “Having the Olympics in Italy we will be qualified in all disciplines and therefore we will have to carry out, in agreement with the Coni, targeted projects to do well. New projects have already been started for skeleton and bobsleigh. In the skeleton, Margaglio had done some excellent pre-Olympic, then failed to materialize. In the bobsleigh we have grown in thrust, we still have to work on the riders and driving. The medals have grown compared to the previous Olympics, they have been growing for two editions. The gold medal was missing, which gives an added value. However, there are nine medals, a positive result, in some ways I am also satisfied but personally I expected something more ”.
