Russia infiltrated among the Scandinavians, the women's 4x5 km Olympic relay promises to be spectacular!

The first team competition of these Games in cross-country skiing, staged tomorrow Saturday 12 February at 8.30 am in Italy, will be the women's 4x5 km relay. The forecast is very open, possible surprises are not to be excluded. Italy relies on the Comarella-Ganz-Di Centa-Scardoni quartet.

First team competition in the cross-country skiing program of the Beijing Games; the women's 4x5 km relay, starting on Saturday 12 February at 8.30 am Italian time, 3.30 pm local time, will award the first medals to the nations and not to the individual athletes in this discipline. Very intriguing racing context, with at least four teams fighting for the final victory. Norway, holder of the Olympic title, relies on Tiril Weng at the start, followed by the current ruler of these Games, Therese Joahug, after it will be up to Helene Fossesholm, in closing Ragnhild Haga. Russia responds with a respectable quartet, in order they will leave: Yulia Stupak, Natalia Nepryaeva, Tatiana Sorina and Veronika Stepanova. Attention also to Finland, led by veterans Kerttu Niskanen and Krista Parmakoski, with Anne Kylloenen at the start and Johanna Matintalo in the second half. A step below Sweden, with the two sprinters Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist and the two big names, hitherto impalpable, Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson. Not to be underestimated is Jessie Diggins' United States and also Germany. There will be 18 relays at the start. Blue quartet almost certain for some time, with Anna Comarella at the launch, in the second fraction Caterina Ganz, third part of the race entrusted to Martina Di Centa, will close Lucia Scardoni, given her sprinter skills.
