Last test towards the combined: Brignone, Bassino, Nicol Delago and Curtoni for Italy, Shiffrin will also do the team event

Wednesday (5.00 am Italian time) we return to the track on the Yanqing descent, with a view to Thursday's race. The startlist of a training that will serve above all to Brignone and Bassino to find confidence, while the American feels she is recovering and will also be there on Saturday for the parallel team, thus competing in all six Olympic trials.

A further test, in fact the third downhill after the two that preceded today's great challenge at Yanqing's “Rock”, which saw Corinne Suter, Sofia Goggia and Nadia Delago occupy the first three steps of the podium. None of them will be there tomorrow, and not even Thursday for the Beijing 2022 Olympic combined, the last individual appointment for the women's sector. Just 26 are enrolled in the training on Wednesday (starting at 5.00 Italian, 12.00 local time), even if there will be a few more for the race, and four Italians will try for the medals, starting with Federica Brignone who represents the best card of the blue team. The Aosta Valley has not found herself at all well on this descent in recent days, which is why tomorrow's test will be especially important for her, who will come out of the gate with bib number 8, before Elena Curtoni (11), great fifth today and with fair chances of being able to repeat the result of the World Championship in Cortina (she was fourth in combined). Nicol Delago and Marta Bassino, in test with numbers 16 and 17, will be able to try without particular pressure, even if in front of all the predictions there are Mikaela Shiffrin, Michelle Gisin (reigning champion) and Wendy Holdener. The American, tomorrow on test with number 5, has just returned from a descent from 18th place but spoke of a good feeling with this descent and, in addition to focusing very strongly on the combined, announced her presence also in the team event on Saturday. Gisin will inaugurate the last training, after being excluded from the Swiss quartet for the descent, Holdener will instead be the last big with the number 20, she seemed in difficulty in the first two tests. There will be no Mowinckel (which we should still see for the combined among the luxury outsiders), Ledecka is instead registered with the number 19.
