Fifth place in the Olympic competition, dreaming of the medal until the last polygon, represented one of the best performances of Italy in recent times. The words of the Aosta Valley, but also of Vittozzi and Wierer.

Italy finished fifth in a women's relay in which for three quarters of the race they dreamed big. An excellent Lisa Vittozzi at the launch followed by an infallible Dorothea Wierer in the second fraction, up to a surprising Samuela Comola who, for her part, launched Federica Sanfilippo, who had to fight against champions such as Elvira Oeberg, Herrmann and Roeiseland.
The Aosta Valley Samuela Comola, who proves to be an excellent fractionist capable of doing his part when it matters (and the signals had already arrived in CdM), spoke to the RAI microphones, surprised by her performance: "I almost don't believe it not even I about what I did, this morning I was very calm because the pursuit had given me confidence. I didn't think I was so comfortable on skis, but I always found an athlete to be attached to. I am very happy with my performance and with the whole team, obviously all the strongest players were present in the last stage and Fede had an excellent race ”.
It was a long trip, but my first Olympics was a wonderful experience, apart from the difficulties related to the covid I tried to enjoy it ".
In addition to Comola, Wierer also expressed his satisfaction for a group capable of exceeding expectations. With such fierce competition, nothing better could be expected. “Today we had a great team performance. We weren't among the favorites, but we worked well above all on shooting, which was essential today. For us it is a beautiful fifth place, even if at the Olympic Games only medals count, so on the one hand it is a pity not to have caught it. In any case we have shown that the Italian team is there, we all went very well ”.
Unlike her companions, for Dorothea there is a last cartridge to be fired in the next mass start, in which she will try to enrich her loot, after the bronze conquered in the Sprint. Finally, Vittozzi thinks about it and has his say: “I'm happy with my performance, I wanted to give one hundred percent and I succeeded. I had a good race and I'm satisfied, today I was tough. Unfortunately I don't come home with individual medals, but I arrived at the Olympics at a difficult time.
Yet I held out and I also managed to bring home some good races ”, said the sappadina to Fondoitalia.
