The world champion of the mass closes the Individual of the Olympic Games 14th: a good match, but the podium remains far away for a troubled national team. The words of Dominik and teammate Lukas Hofer.

In the individual Olympic biathlon, won by Quentin Fillon Maillet, the Italian group was forced to settle for a few places in the thirty. Lukas Hofer and Dominik Windisch succeeded in closing the race in 27th and 14th place respectively. Windisch even sailed in the top ten to the last polygon, finding a cruising speed partially blocked by cramps in the final.
The South Tyrolean expressed himself to the FISI with positive statements about his performance, one of the best of his career in a format not really suited to Dominik's characteristics: "I'm very happy with my shot, where I did well from start to finish. . Unfortunately, on the last lap I felt some leg cramps and was unable to ski decently. I took shorter steps to not get stuck, I couldn't give everything. I felt inside of me that I had more but I struggled. I will have to manage myself for the next races ".
The result demonstrates for the umpteenth time Windisch's great ability to raise his level in major events. Hofer, for his part, paid for the fatigue on the skis, but was still capable of an excellent shooting performance, despite the two errors in the first standing session: “I'm also quite happy with the race, where I found the 90 % to the shot which is always a good result. Too bad for those two standing mistakes that shouldn't happen. Today I was also much better than the muscle problems I have experienced in the last few days, keeping the pace uphill.
We got a bit confused on the material and I couldn't get it right, ”said Hofer. Now, eyes on the sprints where the blue team hopes to achieve much better results, with the aim of trying to erase the "zero" from the medal box in a really complicated season for the movement.
