In the Olympic Stadium of the Korean city, the president of IOC Thomas Bach declared officially closed the XXIII Winter Olympic Games.

The ceremony has combined traditional and modern elements of Korean culture, a parade of local music stars that has warmed the 35,000 spectators gathered to celebrate the event. After a first musical introduction on the notes of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons", it was the moment of the athletes' show with Carolina Kostner who proudly brought the Italian tricolor, she who had already been the standard-bearer in the opening ceremony of Turin 2006 . The touching and intense moments of the 50 km men's and 30 km women's cross-country skiing ceremonies followed the Finnish Iivo Niskanen and the snow queen Marit Bjoergen. The second part of the event concerned the transfer of deliveries to Beijing, venue in 2022 of the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, with institutional speeches, including a video message from the President of China Xi Jinping. The last to speak was Thomas Bach who officially closed the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics. So we moved on to the decisively more touching and intimate moment of the ceremony, the turning off of the Olympic torch, introduced by the five children protagonists of the opening ceremony who have discarded a package containing the memories of these 17 days of competitions. The nostalgia and memory of what was in these two beautiful weeks lasted a moment, but immediately the party is resumed with the Martin Garrix's DjSet, which has attracted all the athletes in the middle of the stadium to dance. So the curtain falls on Pyeongchang 2018, the Olympics of peace, the one between the two Koreas that have marched and competed together, and great sports enterprises. Italy closed 12th place in the medal standings with 10 medals, 3 golds, 2 silver and 5 bronzes, a good booty that brought Torino 2006 closer. But this must be a starting point and not a starting point for the our sport, to look with hope at Beijing 2022 and the possible Winter Olympics in Italy in 2026. Now the Paralympics will take to the stage from 8 to 18 March in six disciplines: Biathlon, Toboggan hockey, wheelchair curling, Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing and Snowboarding. A total of 80 titles will be awarded, eight more than Sochi 2014, the show has not yet finished.
