Franz Josef Gamper
Brother of Franz, former coach of the Azzurri and Norway, Herbert Gamper has made entire generations of athletes grow. Yesterday the drama slipping from Monte Collecchio, he was 70 years old.

He disappeared in his Val d''Ultimo on Wednesday due to a tragic accident that occurred around noon almost on the summit of Monte Collecchio, at an altitude of 2900 meters.
At the age of 70, Herbert Gamper, brother of Franz, former Italian national team coach and leader of the Norwegian team with Svindal and Jansrud, left us for years. Herbert himself was for many years coach of the FISI Committee of Alto Adige and has raised entire generations of athletes; a fatal ski mountaineering adventure with a friend who saw him slide off the summit of Monte Collecchio. According to what was reconstructed, Gamper fell on an icy area, ending up on rocky ground.
He had also been the administrative director of the Ultner Ski and Chairlift Company (USS); As reported by the newspaper Alto Adige, Herbert and his family had to endure the death of their son Horst in August 2017, when the 43-year-old capsized in a boat during a storm on Lake Garda.
