New company in sight for the mountaineer Davo KarniÄar who yesterday announced to the media the intention to climb and go skiing on foot the K2 the most difficult mountain in the world.

A challenge that if done would bring the fifty-four Slovenian directly into the Guinness book of primates since no man to date has managed to completely descend by skiing the second highest peak on the planet.
Before KarniÄar we had tried three more mountaineers, including two Italians: the South Tyrolean Hans Kammerlander in 2001 and Trentino Michele Fait in 2009 without having succeeded. Kammerlander had been forced to surrender after a few hundred meters to worsen the climatic conditions and especially to the shock of having been brushed by the body of a Korean mountaineer with whom he had shared the summit: suddenly he hit the skis and found a thousand Meters below. Fait had even found death falling into a skiing canal.
Davo KarniÄar, who has made more than 1,400 climbs in his career and reshaped skiing at the foot of all the included Seven Summits Everest, will try to break the "damned" mountain next summer in a sort of double venture. In fact, besides being never skipped, the K2 is now the only top in the world to have never been conquered by a mountaineer during the winter.
"I think the right time has come to try this business," explained Slovenian yesterday at a press conference in Kranj, "I have been doing this kind of activity for 24 years now and I think I have missed all the experience I need to deal with this New challenge. "
