"Expansion of the Campitello Matese ski area". It is the object of the Institutional Development Contract signed on 11 October between Alfonso Leggieri, Mayor of the Municipality of San Massimo, Giuseppe Conte, President of the Council of Ministers and Domenico Arcuri, Invitalia's Managing Director.

A loan of 30 million euro which provides for interventions aimed at strengthening the existing infrastructure on the Campitello Matese plateau as well as the expansion on the Roccamandolfi side with new facilities and ski slopes, as well as the construction of a technologically advanced snow-making system. , thus reaching a heightening of the ski resort and almost doubling the existing km with the ultimate aim of modernizing the "District" making it capable of competing with the other Alpine ski resorts.
Among the fundamental points of the project there is precisely the raising of the systems that will touch an altitude of 2000 meters, with studied exposure to the north. This will allow a temporal extension of the winter skiing season, going against the current problem of rising temperatures due to climate change, to which the ski resorts born at 1400 meters are subjected.
One of the most important interventions will also be the construction of a cable car that will allow a circular connection between the two mountain municipalities so as to strengthen the connection, reducing the normal travel times, taking advantage of the latter's ability to overcome the typical unevenness of the territory, giving the possibility also for non-skiers to enjoy unique and suggestive views from new perspectives.
All the plants will have a low environmental impact avoiding any change in the natural balance by integrating perfectly into the territory.
