Florian Eisath, former blue athlete of the Ski World Cup, began his new life as an entrepreneur. Today he is the director of Carezza Dolomites, the company that deals with the installations of the ski area where Florian has grown and dreams of making known all over the world.

Last season you retired from the Ski World Cup. What motivated you to leave the white circus and want to become an entrepreneur?
A part of my life has ended. I traveled the world and tried to achieve my sporting goals. In the last years I had already started to collaborate in the family company that takes care of the ski resort of Carezza and gradually this unique passion for skiing has given way to the passion for management. On the one hand I felt tired of life as an athlete and I recognized my limits as a sportsman. I should have questioned everything as staff, material, skiman, but above all myself and I no longer had the energy to do so because the passion to carry on the project of the ski resort of Carezza had become bigger. Even the job of coach or instructor is not for me. I grew up in an entrepreneurial environment so I've always been fascinated by the business.
Touch the Dolomites is the name of your project as an entrepreneur. What does it consist of?
It consists in the creation of a visitor center, an architectural project with a museum. Here at Carezza we have a two-seater chairlift, King Laurino, which leads under the rocks of the Catinaccio massif. I would like to replace this system with a modern 10-seater gondola lift. Now we are still working on permits.
What goal do you set as an entrepreneur?
The goal is to let the mountain live 365 days a year. We have the potential to do it, I think the plants can work 12 months a year and not just in winter or summer.
What is the strength of Carezza compared to the other ski resorts in South Tyrol?
The strong point is the landscape, it is the natural beauty, the frame of the Latemar and the Catinaccio that are part of the UNESCO Heritage. And it is a beauty that must be made known all over the world because it is a unique product.
Is it more difficult for an athlete's life or an entrepreneur's life?
I believe that life as an entrepreneur is more complex than life as an athlete, taking more factors, but this does not mean that life as an athlete is less demanding.
As a former athlete, do you think that the Carezza district has the characteristics to be able to host one day a World Cup ski race?
The features are there, we have the tracks to host a World Cup race. But in the surroundings we already have locations that host the races such as Val Badia, Val Gardena and Plan de Corones. At Carezza, however, we have hosted another important event that is the Snowboard World Cup.
