From January 4 to 10 the Swatch Skiers World Cup, the race that pits some of the most renowned freestylers in the world, will resume in Zermatt with new captains and new teams and with the "Team Europe" in the lead on "Team Americas "with a score of 2-1. The two teams will face the following tests: Big Mountain (freeride) and Backcountry Slopestyle (freestyle).

"We will try to create a fantastic atmosphere'' with the performance of the teams. You will be able to enjoy all the adrenaline through the backcountry slopestyle and entertainment in the village will all be accessible to the public, "said Marc Scheuer, Director of Marketing at Zermatt Tourism.
At the moment there are two true godfathers of the event, with the American team led by JP Auclair (CAN) and Team Europe under the direction of Julien Regnier (FRA). The two captains have a long common history and have already worked with during the "Word Cup Mogul Competition" of 1998.
"When we met the first time has been an explosion of new energy and new ideas for skiing. JP is a skier amazing, very creative and I like to ski with him," said Regnier of his opponent.
"I heard about it through my friend Julien JF Cusson who told me about this French guy who was really doing a ski edge. When we met, we liked immediately and we started to ski together and work on different projects" responded Auclair.
The co-founder of the event as well as captain of "Team Europe" of 2012, Sverre Liliequist (SWE) commented: "L'' Europe soundly beat the American team the'' last year, so I'm sure JP will , a team willing to take back the title.'' In addition to competitive aspect of the format of'' event, we must remember that, even if it is a real battle, it is also a great week to get together with some athletes incredibly of talent from all over the world to have fun together. "
Although the'' only event will begin in two months, the strategic battle begins has already begun. The two captains are choosing and confirming team members. The teams complete will be announced in the coming weeks.
