Leitner Ropeways
The Leitner Ropeways company will build the new cableway in Cortina d'Ampezzo that will connect the Tofane to the Cinque Torri.

The "Son dei Prade - Bai de Dones" plant will be equipped with 54 10-seat cabins and will connect Pocol to the Cinque Torri with a two-trunk structure that sees an intermediate station in the locality of Cianzopè. A 4.5 km long journey with a drop of 242 meters and a speed of 6 m / s. The hourly rate will be 1100 people per hour with the possibility of expanding to 1800. About 15 million euros will be invested in the construction of the cable car.
The project will also allow the Tofane area to be connected to the Sella circuit and will decrease the movement of cars between Cortina and the Falzarego pass.
"The award of the works of the new cableway that will connect the areas of Tofana and 5 Torri comes at a difficult time in our history - said the mayor of Cortina Gianpietro Ghedina -, but it must help to think about the need to react and think to our future. A long-awaited, strategic facility connecting our ski areas will soon become a reality. In our present and near future, great challenges await us, but also important goals such as the 2021 World Cup: sport, like the mountains, is a true master in this. "
If the coronavirus pandemic permits, the works for the construction of the new cable car should start in late June and the plant should start operating in January 2021.
