Markus Eder won the Courmayeur Swatch Freeride World Tour

With a spectacular descent through the rocks and snow of Tete d'Arp in Courmayeur, the twenty two years old Markus Eder of Brunico won this morning the only Italian stop of the Swatch Freeride World Tour by The North Face circuit.  The most famous freeride skiers and snowboarders in the world take parts at this competition. Markus has overtaken the Swiss Jeremie Heitz and Swedish Reine Barkered.

Markus Eder (1st ski): “I’m stoked with my line. I didn’t expect to win as I did a little mistake on my backflip. I hoped to be on the podium but to win is really fantastic.”

Jérémie Heitz (2ndski): "My strategy for today was to ski fast and fluid, as I'm a big mountain rider. I went exactly where I wanted to with a lot of speed. I'm super stoked with my 2nd place!"

Reine Bakered (3rdski): “It was so much fun today to ski with these perfect snow conditions. It was almost hard to focus on the run and the line! But I'm really happy with my performance and feel mentally strong for the next stop in Chamonix.”

In a world like that of the Freeride never saw Italians at the top of the charts and where rarely they participate, certainly not expected an exploit of this kind.  Markus already seemed to be happy to obtain a good ninth place in the first race of the season, in Revelstoke, Canada, where his first appearance in the world circuit of the Freeride was able to pick a good line and to show its potential.

The Freeride World Tour is the most important Tour of Freeskiing and Snowboarding around the world, with the best athletes in the sport competing in the main mountain resort in the world. To win a round of the FWT must convince the jury in a few seconds of descent, is evaluated for the difficulty of line, control, fluidity, technique and style.

In the race dedicated to snowboarders won the French Aurelien Routens, ahead Rodosky John (USA) and Emilien Badoux (CH).
