Foppolo: from Piazzale Alberghi towards an new Alpine Village

CIR will own Facilities and land after the green light of the court agreed to the proposed bankruptcy for "Foppolo evolution", the company owned by the entrepreneur Gianfranco Quarte, just failed. The group, therefore, has one foot in the station Brembo Ski and seems to be the main contender to project strongly backed by the city that provides the evolution of the Piazzale Alberghi and the construction of an alpine village with 200 apartments, hotels with a thousand beds and 1,200 underground parking spaces.

Regardless of the plan, in the Brembo Ski area improvements are expected as early as next season. In Carona will be built a new training camp, along with the replacement of lift baby with a conveyor belt, San Simone will complete the installation of artificial snow set, while Foppolo will see the creation of a new cableway.

The eagerly awaited new Foppolo cableway that will link the Piazzale Alberghi with the arrival of  Montebello replacing the two current chair is an investment of about nine and a half million euros. The project is now ready but will be made only for the season 2011-2012. It will lead from the base station to Montebello in just six minutes through eight-seater gondola capable of carrying high altitude up to 2,800 people per hour.

All numbers of the plan

100 - The million earmarked for the implementation of integrated plan of action on the town square of Hotels Foppolo to be raised to the height of the arrival of the slopes. The project involves the construction of a sort of alpine village with houses that have the characteristics of mountain villages.

1200 - The parking spaces provided in the development plan: will be made on three floors above the square Hotels. Approximately half will be for public use and half to serve the homeowners of the alpine village. Also the car parks are also provided for a ninety places for buses.

200 - In the integrated plan is planned to build about 200 apartments that will form the alpine village: the houses are of stone with slate roofs, no more than two storeys high.In addition there will be stone and wooden chalets. In the village will be obtained even three squares and the whole village will be pedestrian, with shops, offices, bars and restaurants.

1000 - the beds are provided in two or three hotels to be built next to the alpine village. Overall, the volume of new residential buildings will be for third and two thirds for hotel and commercial.

6 - Do not fall within the development plan but the notice should be one of the highlights of the 2011-12 ski season Foppolo. The gondola that seats eight, in six minutes, without milestones, will bring the arrival of the slopes up to Montebello.
