Valle Aurina, the new refuge at Sasso Nero is inaugurated

On Saturday 21st July, the new Sasso Nero mountain hut in Valle Aurina will be inaugurated. The tower structure, located near the fork of Riotorbo, on the border with Austria, at an altitude of 3026 meters, was built in about eight months in total and is developed on six floors.

The strong point is certainly the breathtaking view of the peaks of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park, the Aurine Alps, the Hohe Tauern and the Marmolada. The works were directed by the Stifter - Bachmann studio that covered the fir interiors and dedicated the upper floors to the rooms with about 50 beds for those who want to stay overnight. The construction of the structure, whose gross area is 716.40 square meters, had a cost of 4.235.000 euros. The President of the Province, Arno Kompatscher, and the Vice President, Christian Tommasini, will be present at the inauguration ceremony. The new refuge replaces the Vittorio Veneto hut, built in 1894, which was 100 meters below.
