Marmolada Move To The Top
The new 10-seater gondola will allow easier access to the Sella tour.

During the conference of services, which took place in the offices of the Province of Belluno, no critical issues were found regarding the authorization for the construction of the new plant that will connect Malga Ciapela with Capanna Bill. The station will be built near the departure of the cable car that goes up to the Marmolada and will arrive at Capanna Bill where with the four-seater chairlift you can reach the Padon Pass.
It is a modern detachable gondola lift with 10 seats. The plant is expected to start operating the new plant in the winter season 2023/2024. It is expected to cost 10 million euros. The construction of the work will be financed by Funivie Arabba with the help of the Veneto Region which has allocated a contribution.
"It was not easy to achieve this first goal and even if we are not yet at the final goal, I am sure we will arrive shortly - Diego De Battista, President of Funivie Arabba, told Radio Più - We are working and investing a lot of resources and energy in order to be able to start work as soon as possible, as we strongly believe in the construction of this new plant both for the general economy of Funivie Arabba and for the positive impact it will have on the entire area. We have always shown that our vision puts the development of the territory first and this cableway, together with the investments that the Municipality of Rocca Pietore is implementing within the Marmolada Unesco project, will be a good breath of air. The question about the availability of Marmolada Srl, to allow the construction of the connecting track before the winter season 2023/24 without delaying the start of the works, remains open, but I believe it is only a matter of days to find the right place. . Moreover, this investment, albeit supported exclusively by Funivie Arabba net of public contributions, is in the interest of the whole community, and also of the Marmolada cable car ”.
With a total investment of 30 million euros, the intention is to relaunch the Padon area: in addition to the new gondola lift, in fact, the modernization of the two connecting chairlifts on the Porta Vescovo side, of the relative slopes and of the programmed snow-making systems is also planned. .
