Freeride World Tour: the moment of truth in Verbier, Switzerland

It's been a difficult year for the FWT stop because of the numerous referrals and dictated by the weather and snow conditions, but we are at the crucial moment. Starting tomorrow Saturday 22 it opens the time window of a week in which there will be the grand finale, the last leg of the Freeride World, in the resort of Verbier, Switzerland.

The athletes will compete until the last shot on the spectacular north face of the Bec des Rosses for the title of world champion in 2014 in the different categories. To make it even more exciting race the presence of distinguished athletes, entered the race just for the last decisive match. They qualified for the final only the first 12 skiers and snowboarders 5 tallest men in the rankings and 5 women skiers and snowboarders. Become champion of the world in their respective categories who will score the four best results of the season, including the final, for the men, and the three best for women. And the results are far from being discounted in all categories. Among skiers men vie for the title of the current championship leader Frenchman Loic Collomb-Patton, Sam Smoothy from New Zealand, the Swiss Jérémie Heitz and the American Lars Chickering-Ayers. Among snowboarders vie instead the top step of the podium Emilien Badoux Swiss, American and Canadian Sammy Luebke Jamie Rizzuto, who currently occupy the top three positions in the standings. Among the favorites are the fellow skiers current first and second in the standings, the Austrian Nadine Wallner and Lorraine Huber, although it retains some chance even the current third-ranked Matilda Rapaport (SWE). With two wins in the season, the American Shannan Yates is the best candidate to victory among snowboarders, while the local Estelle Balet can only be won by winning the race and hoping that the rival does not fall within the top three positions. Among snowboarders instead the three-time world champion and reigning champion Ralph Backstrom (USA) and the four-time world champion Xavier de le Rue (FRA), in addition to other exceptional athletes such as French and American Jonathan Charlet Steve Klassen. Among the women you wait for the extraordinary participation of women skiers Champion FWT 2012 Christine Hargin (NOR) and between the French snowboarder Anouck Mouthon.
