After years of controversy, work will start for the construction of the new three-seater chairlift in Cerreto Laghi.

The facility, called "Vallefonda", will cover the same route as the first ski lift built in the late 1950s. A 305 meters long journey with an elevation gain of 87 meters, a speed of 2m / s and a travel time of 2 minutes.
The chairlift will serve the track of the same name, known as the school field, and will also be the continuation of the Belfiore track which starts at an altitude of 2000 meters. The new route will make the area more suitable for families with children and for beginners.
The work will be carried out by the Graffer srl company of Lonato del Garda for a cost of 498,294.33 euros with an auction discount of 400.83 euros.
On 1 September the company that manages the ski lifts, Turismo Appenino, announced on their personal facebook page: “We are in favor of the creation of the new easy slope for beginners and children in Vallefonda. Some people, the usual 2/3 who probably do not have the future of Cerreto Laghi at heart, have acted voluntarily to block the construction of the new slope downstream strongly desired by us. We at Turismo Appennino believe that this new slope, with a new chairlift attached, represents the future for our area which has always suffered from the lack of a real school field. In fact, with this new track our area will be even more attractive for families and beginners and all the tourist and commercial businesses of Cerreto Laghi will be able to benefit from it both in winter and in summer ”.
Turismo Appenino goes on to say: “This new slope will in fact have a double value: it will be the ideal place for those who have yet to learn skiing and will then further expand our ski area by being connected to the existing slopes. Without this fully funded intervention, we see no future for our company and we are ready to make drastic decisions on how to evaluate the definitive closure of the ski lifts ”.
