Pila looks to the future and tries to improve its winter and summer tourist offer with a new 8-seater gondola lift.

By December 2023, the Pila-Gorraz three-seater chairlift, called Liaison, and the Couis 1 two-seater chairlift, dating back to the late 1980s, will be replaced by a new 8-seater gondola lift with automatic locking. The mountain station will be located at 2750 meters above sea level and will be equipped with a refreshment point with a 360 ° panoramic terrace on the peaks of the Aosta Valley.
The intervention, contemplated in the Company Strategic Plan approved by the company's Board of Directors on 29 October 2019, has already been the subject of a feasibility study prepared in 2016.
The choice was addressed to a system with closed cabins in order to allow first of all an easy use also by beginners, with the first intermediate station located near the ski school and the resort's reception center and the second in the current area starting point of the Couis 1 chairlift, thus allowing skiers to reach slopes that are currently unreachable with existing lifts or through easy routes classified as blue.
The new plant is positioned on a track that develops starting from the area immediately upstream of the arrival station of the “Aosta-Pila” cable car and of the building used for offices and ticket offices, effectively replacing the current Liaison and Couis 1 chairlifts but with a departure station located a few tens of meters further downstream of the Liaison chair lift and the arrival station at the start of the "Platta de Grevon" runway n.27. There are also two intermediate stations: the first is located near the ski school and the resort's accommodation center in the area originally occupied by the mountain station of the Liaison chairlift while the second, double-drive type, is located just above the mountain. current starting area of the Couis 1 chairlift.
For the construction of the new Pila -Couis ski lift, the cableway management company, Pila S.p.A, has launched a two-stage design competition. The goal of building the gondola lift is to limit the queues of the plants.
By 19th May 2020, 1st grade participants will have to submit a proposal. The jury will choose the best five projects to be admitted to the 2nd degree, a phase in which they will be evaluated again by the jury who will formulate a ranking identifying the winner.
