Great success with the public for the return of the Mount Lussari Torchlight Procession which after two years of hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this evening in Camporosso celebrated the arrival of 2023, at the same time celebrating its first 50 editions.

The event, organized as usual by the US Camporosso in synergy with the Municipality of Tarvisio and the precious support of PromoTurismoFVG, brought back to Val Canale an event that has now become part of the mountain tradition of Friuli Venezia Giulia and which still Once upon a time it was fully appreciated by the public, who also flocked en masse from nearby Austria and Slovenia to witness a one-of-a-kind light and color show.
At the stroke of 18.00, punctual like a Swiss watch, the great spectacle of the torchlight procession began. From the top of Monte Lussari, 250 torchlighters dressed in period clothing and equipped with handmade torches illuminated the 3.5 km of the Di Prampero slope drawing a long snake of lights that created an atmosphere of authentic magic. Once the path, which from the Sanctuary of Monte Lussari leads to the hamlet of Camporosso , was completed, a majestic well-wishing bonfire was lit, followed by a suggestive pyrotechnic display.
A worthy conclusion to the day, for an event whose importance has grown year after year both in terms of tourism and promotion and in terms of maintaining ancient traditions, elements that have always distinguished this event which has become over the years an authentic showcase for the ''whole Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
The celebrations for the first fifty years of the longest torchlight procession in the Julian Alps actually already began in the previous days with a rich program of events in the run-up to the torchlight procession. On Thursday 29 December the torchlight makers who took part in the first edition of the torchlight procession fifty years ago were celebrated, with the delivery of a special recognition and at the same time a demonstration of how torchlights are built was held. The following day, however, the "Let's create our friend the Gnome" workshop was held, followed by musical entertainment.
There were also guided tours of the historic center of Camporosso, a village which on torchlight procession day was transformed into a veritable Market Exhibition thanks to the numerous stalls that offered the public artisanal products and the food and wine specialties of the area. The torchlight procession was also preceded by the Fiaccolata dei Piccoli parade which effectively kicked off the long-awaited 50th edition of the Monte Lussari torchlight procession.
Great satisfaction therefore for the US Camporosso which, thanks to the commitment of its members and the precious support of the numerous volunteers, has brought this splendid initiative back to Val Canale, "We are very satisfied to have brought this event back into vogue - commented the President Damiano Matiz - it wasn't easy to get the whole organizational machine back on its feet, but the great passion and above all the great attachment to this event on the part of our members allowed us to celebrate the golden anniversary of the Torchlight procession in the best possible way. Monte Lussari The large public also present in the days preceding the torchlight procession confirmed the importance of this event in terms of tourist attraction in the Tarvisio area and in general for the entire region."
The fiftieth edition of the Monte Lussari torchlight procession has been archived, now the US Camporosso must quickly turn the page and focus on the next big event in which it is the protagonist, the two European Cup free descents which in all likelihood will take place in Sella Nevea next January 12 and 13. Races that should have been held in Camporosso on the Di Prampero slope but which, due to the poor conditions of the surface were transferred to the Agonistica del Canin.
