This is the Welcome sign that the church company of Chiesa Valmalenco has decided to expose to intimidate those approaching the Thoni track. It starts from the more than 2330 m altitude of Cima Motta, to the left of the chairlift dosso dei Vetti with a short slight slope that joins the arrival station of the plant.
The landscape you meet is definitely fascinating, for those who can enjoy it :-) Descend through a larch forest and a lake that is almost always frozen, between fairly challenging walls and less steep descents. It is however the last piece of the track to be dramatically steep ... In my memory I think it's the most leaning wall I've ever done ... But we must consider that it is quite short and that therefore even an inexperienced skier can overcome it simply by jumping after having passed a part. .. what you could not do at all by facing the last part of the Spinale at Madonna di Campiglio, less pending but much longer. Moreover, the spinal line never gives respite to the legs for all its 600 meters of altitude while Thoeni (apart from the final wall) is nothing but a quiet and amusing series of changes of slope alternating with flowing sections.

Chiesa Valmalenco
La Valmalenco offre uno dei comprensori sciistici più panoramici della Valtellina, sviluppato principalmente nella conca dell’Alpe Palù e circondato dalle grandi montagne del gruppo del Bernina. Boschi di conifere, ampi pendii in quota e il lago Palù compongono un ambiente alpino ancora relativamente integro, con vedute che spaziano verso il Pizzo Scalino, il Monte Disgrazia e le cime che separano la valle dall’Engadina.
