This morning at 8.50 a large avalanche fell on an inhabited area in Val Martello, near Bolzano.

It is the avalanche "Eberhoefer", a type of avalanche that presents a high danger for the houses below. Fortunately there seem to be no victims, but only some damage to homes. In some places, the snow reaches the first floor of the houses. People have been evacuated from their homes.
During the hours an emergency base is being set up to ensure board and lodging for rescue teams and the population.
Meanwhile in Alto Adige it continues to snow, 30 state and provincial roads have been closed, 6500 utilities are without electricity and tomorrow, Monday 18 December, for safety reasons schools will also be closed.
The Brenner motorway also closed in both directions between Brixen and Vipiteno.

Mottarone
Il Mottarone, alto 1.492 metri, sorge in una posizione privilegiata tra il Lago Maggiore e il Lago d’Orta. La sua vetta arrotondata è uno dei balconi panoramici più spettacolari del Piemonte: nelle giornate limpide lo sguardo abbraccia sette laghi, la Pianura Padana e gran parte dell’arco alpino, dal Monviso al Monte Rosa fino alle montagne svizzere. Questa cornice, più che le dimensioni del comprensorio, rappresenta il vero elemento distintivo della località.
