Nirmal Purja wrote the history of mountaineering, being the first to climb K2 in the winter. It will be really interesting to discover all the secrets of an extraordinary enterprise, the one that saw him protagonist in January together with a team of nine other Nepalese companions. It will happen in Cortina d''Ampezzo on August 27th: to bring the great mountaineer to the Queen of the Dolomites is SCARPA, a leading Italian company in the production of mountain footwear and for outdoor activities, which accompanied him to the roof of the world. To get to the top of K2, the climber used the Phantom 8000 HD, an extremely technical boot completely made in Italy and specifically designed for high altitudes, one of the flagship products of the Asolo brand. The event, scheduled for Friday 27 August at 6.15 pm in Piazza Angelo Dibona, represents the first public outing of Nirmal Purja after reaching the second highest peak in the world. During the talk, the great Nepalese athlete, in addition to telling unpublished details of his feat, will retrace the salient moments of his career, which began in 2012 and which saw him climb all fourteen 8000m mountains in the record time of 189 days, in the '' scope of the “Project Possible 14x7”. The choice to carry out this special event in Cortina is not accidental: the well-known Venetian town was the birthplace in 1925 of Lino Lacedelli, one of the greatest mountaineers ever, who together with Achille Compagnoni was the first man to conquer K2 in 1954. “The great mountaineering expeditions are part of our history - underlines the President of SCARPA Sandro Parisotto - and K2, with its 8609 meters, represents one of the most legendary peaks. Passion, love for the mountains and teamwork are the values that our company has always pursued, sharing them with the most important climbers.
