The Pokljuka stage of the Biathlon World Cup concludes with the first medley relays of the season: it starts with the Single Mixed where Italy lines up an unprecedented formation formed by Braunhofer and Passler while it will end with the more traditional Mixed Relay.
There are nations that have chosen to field the best couple, sacrificing the medley relay, such as Norway with Christiansen and Tandrevold or Austria with Eder - Hauser. format specialists. It is precisely the Norwegian who decides to set the pace in the launch lap with a rather brisk pace. It was Christiansen himself who made the first break with the shooting range on the ground where he conquered a ten second advantage over Strelow and Dovzan, Samuelsson used a recharge and lost 11 seconds; there are two Braunhofer reloads at 33 seconds. In the second lap the Italian has traffic problems and loses another 15 seconds.
There are many top-ups in the standing session, Hartweg takes advantage of it and finds himself 6 seconds ahead of Christiansen who misses twice like Guigonnat. The Swede Samuelsson (0+4) is at 17.8, Braunhofer (0+3) at 32.
It's time for the first women's fraction where Ingrid Tandrevold continues the work of her teammate. After the session on land, the Norwegian maintains a 10 second advantage over the American Irwin, 12 over the electric Baserga and the French Jeanmonnot. Hauser and Magnusson are 20 seconds apart, Rebecca Passler with a 5/5 is 38.3.
At the mid-race change, Tandrevold (0+1) is 8 seconds ahead of Jeanmonnot (0+1); Baserga (0+2) is at 18.7, Irwin (0+1) at 25 and Magnusson (0+2) at 35 seconds. Hauser (0+3) is 42 seconds behind and Rebecca Passler (0+0) after a fall that cost her about thirty seconds is tenth at 1.05.5.
Christiansen on skis brings the advantage to 12 seconds and on the ground he does not fail and Guigonnat leaves the range at 20 seconds. A good Hartweg paired with French is not wrong. Samuelsson uses a recharge but Sweden finds itself 26 seconds behind, Braunhofer uses two recharges, thirteenth at 1.43.4.
Christiansen (0+2 in the match) maintains a 14 second lead over Guigonnat (0+0) at the last change; Hartweg's Switzerland (0+3) is at 28 seconds, the American Schommer (0+1) at 36. Samuelsson misses everything (3+4) and Sweden finds itself at 1.34.4 immediately ahead of Braunhofer (0+2 ).
In the first lap of the last fraction and in the session on the ground, Tandrevold extends his lead over Jeanmonnot up to half a minute while Baserga builds a tens-second lead over Irwin in the fight for third place.
Tandrevold (0+1 in the race) closes the accounts on Jeanmonnot (0+2) while Baserga (0+2) takes the Swiss colors to the podium, Norway (0+5) is first at the finish line with a 41 second lead over France (0+6) and 49.6 seconds over Switzerland (0+8); Fourth place for Finland (0+8) at 1.33.3 and fifth place for a disappointing Austria (0+10) at 1.45.9. Sixth position for the United States (2+9), seventh for Ukraine (1+9) and eighth for Japan (0+10) at 2.14.5. A disastrous Sweden (3+13) is tenth at 2.19.0 and Italy (0+6) eleventh at 2.28.9.
