There will be nine athletes from the Italian national team at the start of the appointment that opens 2023 of the biathlon CdM, from 5 to 8 January in Pokljuka.
There is some important news among the Azzurri on the Slovenian snow, starting with Federica Sanfilippo's return to the top circuit: all according to forecasts, with the South Tyrolean veteran who, after her sensational qualification for the final stages of the sprint that opened the Toru de Ski, last Saturday in Val Mustair, will finally be part of the match in her discipline, she who also won the IBU Cup in her native Val Ridanna a few weeks ago.
At the start of the Sprint which will inaugurate the Pokljuka program on Thursday 5 January, there will of course also be Lisa Vittozzi, who comes third in the general classification in the place where the Sappada has always done very well, Dorothea Wierer, Samuela Comola and Rebecca Passler.
In a menu that includes the men's Sprint on Friday 6, then the two Pursuit races on Saturday 7 and the relays on Sunday 8, there will be only four men from the national team at the start of this stage; in fact, Italy will field only Tommaso Giacomel, Didier Bionaz, David Zingerle and the returning Patrick Braunhofer. “Also for this round we have to do without Lukas Hofer - officializes the technical director Klaus Hoellrigl - who is completing further treatment for the inflammation of the tibial tendon in his left leg, then we'll take stock of the situation.
Daniele Fauner will also not be present in Pokljuka, he has just recovered from a strong flu and is following a training plan that aims to get him back in condition as soon as possible, he will return to the next stage in Ruhpolding".
The IBU Cup, on the other hand, will resume its race from the Slovakian town of Brezno-Osrblie, where a supersprint, a sprint, a medley relay and a single medley relay are held, again between 5 and 8 January. In the race six women and three men in the blue house: Hannah Auchentaller, Michela Carrara, Eleonora Fauner, Sara Scattolo, Beatrice Trabucchi, Martina Trabucchi, Daniele Cappellari, Cedric Christille and Elia Zeni.
