All the big names on the circuit will be present on Swedish soil, for a World Cup opening that already promises to be very interesting.

The Biathlon World Cup will also start again on Saturday, with the first stage of the season scheduled in Oestersund. Very few defections, teams in ranks for the most part complete, athletes ready to battle for a season that promises a lot of show: in short, there are all the ingredients to immediately admire a weekend of high-level competitions.
Norway, after having monopolized last season of the World Cup, triumphing both in the male general classification with Johannes Boe, and in the female one with Tiril Eckhoff, will have every intention of confirming itself at the top, especially in view of the Olympic appointment of February. Seven men and six women were called for the first seasonal races. The men's team, in addition to the crystal globe holder Johannes Boe, will consist of brother Tarej, Johannes Dale, Filip Andersen, Sivert Bakken, Sturla Laegreid and Vetle Christiansen. The six women, on the other hand, will be, in addition to the aforementioned Tiril Eckhoff, Emilie Kalkenberg, Karoline Knotten, Ida Lien, Marte Roiseland and Ingrid Tandrevold.
Great expectations also on the Swedish hosts, especially on the women's team. Hanna Oeberg is called to another important season, with a thought both for the General Cup and the Games; on the snow at home she will break the ice together with her sister Elvira, Linn Persson, former cross-country skier Stina Nilsson, Anna Magnusson, Mona Brorsson and Johanna Skottheim. As for men, the two main pawns will be Sebastian Samuelsson and Martin Ponsiluoma, flanked by Jesper Nelin, Peppe Femling, Malte Stefansson and Oskar Brandt.
After a disappointing season, Russia is called to revenge. Alexander Loginov is the prominent element that we will see in the race in Oestersund, with him will take part in the weekend of races Evgeny Garanichev (who in the mass start world championship of Oestersund 2019 lost gold at the last polygon on the day of the triumph of Dominik Windisch), Eduard Latypov, Matvey Eliseev, Karim Khalili and Alexander Povarnitsy. You are also the Russian biathletes present in Sweden: Svetlana Mironova, Ulyana Nigmatullina, Larisa Kuklina, Irina Kazakevich, Valeria Vasnetsova and Kristina Reztsova.
There is also much anticipation for France, which has summoned ten athletes (five men and five women) for the opening. The transalpine men's team will be able to count on various "loads of ninety", such as Quentin Fillot Maillet and Emilie Jacquelin; Simon Desthieux, Antonin Guigonnat (silver here in Oestersund in the 2019 world championship) and Fabien Claude will also compete with them. The five French girls, who will be at the start in Sweden, will be Julia Simon, Anais Bescond, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, Anais Chevalier-Bouchet and Chloé Chevalier.
Another team on which high expectations fall are Germany, in their first season without veterans Simon Schempp and Arnd Peiffer. The men's team, on the occasion of the first stage of the season, will be able to count on the experience of Benedikt Doll and Erik Lesser; the other four men in the race will be Philipp Horn, Philipp Narwath, Roman Rees and Justus Strelow. The women's team, on the other hand, orphaned by Lara Dahlmeier, will be able to count on Denis Herrmann, Franziska Preuss, Janina Hettich, Vanessa Hinz, Vanessa Voigt, Juliane Fruewirth and Anna Weidel.
On Saturday we start with the men's and women's individual tests, while on Sunday it will be the turn of the sprints, which will close the first weekend of competitions of the Biathlon World Cup.
