Already injured in her ankle, now Covid is stopping the German. Over a month away from competitions a few weeks before the Olympics.

Endless problems for Franziska Preuss, who must also surrender at the Ruhpolding stage after contracting Covid at the end of the year. The seven-time Bavarian world champion, had injured her left ankle in December at Le Grand Bornand, compromising her presence in the French stage.
The forced stop and recovery times during the Christmas holidays were not enough, forcing her to forfeit the World Team Challenge in Ruhpolding. But as if that weren't enough, the German contracted covid at the end of the year decimating her hopes for the home stage at the beginning of the year in Oberhof. Now, after being called up by the national team for the next round of the World Cup starting tomorrow in Ruhpolding, she has to give up again not being in perfect health, albeit in the process of recovery.
Consequently, Anterselva represents the last resort before the Beijing Olympics, but this decision will be made in the coming days. The most plausible hypothesis is that Preuss can resume competing during the same Games; Franziska Hildebrand was called in her place, to join Denise Herrmann, Vanessa Hinz, Hanna Kebinger, Vanessa Voigt and Marion Wiesensarter to try to better defend the home colors.
