Biathlon: Samuelsson stopped by a severe cold, Anna Magnusson by COVID

A subdued Christmas for the two Swedish biathletes whose presence at the resumption of the World Cup in Pokljuka is uncertain.

Sebastian Samuelsson is struggling with a seasonal ailment that has been afflicting him for more than a week; author of a start to the season that did not live up to expectations, the twenty-five year-old Olympic Pursuit runner-up faced the Mass Start last Sunday at Le Grand Bornand already suffering from the first symptoms of a cold which worsened during the Christmas week to the point of preventing him from resuming training. Speaking to Swedish site SVT, Samuelsson revealed that he was still suffering from a severe cough and hoped to be able to resume activity this week. For her part, the winner of the Sprint on French soil, Anna Magnusson, on her return from Savoy tested positive for COVID and her presence at the Pokljuka stage which will start with the Sprint on January 5 is highly at risk.
