At 29, the biathlete from Valle d'Aosta Nicole Gontier retires; the Mass Start of the Italian Championships in Val Martello marked its farewell step with the final party of the whole movement of the blue Biathlon.

At the age of 29 (she will turn 30 on November 17), Nicole Gontier has decided to end her competitive career with the 2021 Italian Biathlon Championships which close the season in Val Martello.
After winning the Silver medal of the Junior World Championships in the 3x6 km Relay with Alexia Runggaldier and Dorothea Wierer ten years ago in Nove Mesto, doubling her the following year in Kontiolahti, the biathlete originally from Champorcher made her World Cup debut on 29 November 2012 in Ostersund. In the top-flight circuit he has disputed 136 races, climbing on the individual podium once, with third place in the Oberhof Sprint on 9 January 2015.
The Aosta Valley participated in four editions of the World Championships, winning the Bronze medal in the women's relay in 2013 and 2015 with Dorothea Wierer and Karin Oberhofer protagonists of both races and Michela Ponza in 2013 and Lisa Vittozzi in 2015.
In his career he participated in two editions of the Winter Olympics, Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018, obtaining as best result the sixth place in the relay race in 2014 and the 38th place in the 2018 Individual.
