Daniel Taschler is the name from the biathlon world involved in the Aderlass operation

A former blue investigated during the maxi doping investigation taken in Seefeld last February. The German broadcaster ARD reveals it

Daniel Taschler is the expected name that emerges from the biathlon world, announced in late May as part of the Aderlass operation. The investigators then moved towards the direction of the Alto Adige region, which played its last race at the highest level right at home, in Anterselva, in the 2013/14 season which in fact marked the end of his career with only six Cup appearances of the World, before taking over a sporting goods store. Taschler would have used the services of the German doctor Mark Schmidt, the heart of the inquiry exploded at the Nordic skiing world championships, as indicated by the well-known expert on doping and who followed step by step the operation Aderlass, or the journalist Hajo Seppelt of ARD. However, it could go far beyond the "simple" attendance of the controversial doctor from Erfurt; Daniel Taschler was sentenced in April 2017, by the district court of Bolzano, to a prison sentence of nine months on probation for violation of the anti-doping legislation in the maxi investigation initiated by the Public Prosecutor of Padua, with his father Gottlieb sentenced to a year in prison for frequenting the well-known doctor from Ferrara (who followed the epic story of Lance Armstrong, among others) Michele Ferrari. In recent weeks, however, Daniel and Gottlieb Taschler, in addition to Ferrari, had been acquitted in the Corte d''Appello in Trento because, according to the judges, "the fact does not exist", while they could also only declare the facts as was was requested by the General Prosecutor. The Court of Cassation had annulled the previous appeals process, due to doubts about the legitimacy of environmental interceptions made during the investigation phase. Now the same Seppelt hypothesizes that it is possible to reopen everything, arriving at far harsher sentences. On the opening of the investigations against Taschler junior, the Munich prosecutor's office, but also the Austrian investigators themselves, refused to comment on ARD, which tried to contact the former biathlete himself, without receiving an actual response.
