Franziska Hildebrand definitively says goodbye to biathlon: she will soon become a mother

The German biathlete would have liked to end her career with the home World Cup in Oberhof, scheduled for February 2023, but the happy discovery that she is pregnant puts an end to her splendid competitive history.

A few days after the news of Justine Braisaz's pregnancy, another protagonist of the biathlon world will become a mother in the coming months: the German Franziska Hildebrand has announced, in fact, her retirement from the world of biathlon, precisely in view of having a child or of a daughter over the next few months. The thirty-five-year-old Teutonic would have liked to end her career with the Oberhof world championship, which will be staged from 10 to 19 February 2023, to definitively greet the world of biathlon and especially the home crowd, who supported her during the his career. Hildebrand announced the news through a post that appeared on his social channels: "I had a dream, I had a goal and a plan to get there: the World Championships in Oberhof, then life got in the way. Now I look forward to the new adventures as a mother from next year ". In his career Hildebrand has won two races in CdM at the indivudal level, both sprints (in Hochfilzen in December 2015 and in Rupholding in January 2016), topped off by another seven podiums at the individual level. She also contributed nine times to victory in the women's relay, as well as a success in the mixed relay. Still in the relays she picked up two world gold medals (Kontiolahti 2015 and Hochfilzen 2017), a silver in the Oslo Holmenkollen 2016 mixed and a bronze in the women's one in the same world championship event.
